AUSTRALIA
Welcome Aussie Foundation Licensees (WAFL) Award
To celebrate Australia's new era of ham radio, in
particular the entry level Foundation Licence, Amateur Radio Victoria has struck
a special activity award. The Welcome Aussie Foundation Licensees "WAFL"
(pronounced waffle) Award will coincide with the steady induction of the new
members of the amateur radio community. Around 1,000 are expected to be
licensed by the end of 2006 and active on the 80m, 40m, 15m, 10m, 2m and 70cm
bands. A maximum of 10 watts power is permitted for this license class.
ACMA has adopted the distinctive and unusual four-letter suffix starting with
"F" for all VK Foundation licensees.
Rules:
1) Make on-air contacts with Australian Foundation Licence Stations that include
exchange of signal reports
2) Stations may be contacted more than once, provided it is not on the same day
unless on more than one frequency band
3) Repeater and IRLP contacts fall within the spirit of this award as they
require use of radio at each end of a contact
4) Proof of contacts must be by log extract with minimum details of call sign,
date, time and band
5) Contacts must include Foundation Licence Stations in more than one VK call
area
Australian award claimants are required to submit evidence of
contact with at least 50 while DX stations require at least 10 contacts.
The "Waffle" Award period began on October 5 2005 and ends on
Australia Day, 26 January, 2007. Claims accompanied by $A5 (non-Australian

CROATIA "Nikola Tesla" Award
The Croatian Amateur Radio Association (Hrvatski radioamaterski savez or HRS) will issue a special event "Nikola Tesla Award", commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the world famous inventor Nikola Tesla, who was born in Smiljan near Gospic, in Croatia, on 10 July 1856.
This award is available to licensed radio amateurs of all countries worldwide, as well as to SWL listeners.
Earn 20 points during calendar year 2006 by contacting 9A Radio Amateur stations. All bands and modes are permitted. Contacts via repeaters are not valid for this award.
Each contact with a 9A station counts as 1 (one) point. It is mandatory that contact be made with 9A150NT, which will be worth 5 (five) points.
For this award, it is necessary to submit an extract of the log and to have the required QSL cards in one's possession. It may be necessary to submit the QSL cards for inspection when requested.
The Award costs 5 or $US6. Payment should be made into the HRS's account at Zagrebacka banka, account number 30101-601-16-2500-3222756.

CROATIA Koprivnica City Award
Although this award is a permanent award with it's own set of rules, 2006 marks
the 650th anniversary of the city with special requirements which will make it
easier to earn.
Here are the new conditions: The members of the Amateur Radio Club Koprivnica ''9A8K'' will be active with
the special anniversary call sign ''9A 650 C'', on the occasion of the 650 years of having
status of free town, which Koprivnica received in 1356.
(Historically, Koprivnica had the Latin name Caproncensis). Koprivnica was one of the very few towns in the Middle ages, with
special privileges and grants received from King Ludovik I in 1356.
The special call sign 9A650C will be in use from the 1st January until the 31st December 2006 .
The QSL manager for this activity is Kresimir, 9A7K. Just one QSO with '' 9A 650 C '' call sign is
all that is required to earn the special ''Koprivnica City Award''.

GERMANY AGCW 35th Anniversary Award
The Germany AGCW club celebrates its 35th birthday and sponsors an award for
contacts made during 2006. Licensed hams and SWLs using the mode CW (A1A, F2A) may work this award on WEEKDAYS (Monday 0001 UTC thru Friday 2359

German radio club DOK W-19 sponsors this award on the occasion of the
1200-th anniversary of the existence of the city of Halle. The award may
be earned by all licensed amateurs and SWLs. The applicant must fulfill the following conditions:
Contact stations from Halle, DOKs W19, W24 or W35 during the period 1 January
2006 to 31 December 2006. From each station, use a letter or call area

The Radio amateur Association of Serbia, in cooperation with Nikola Tesla memorial Museum in Belgrade, YU,
www.tesla-museum.org is issuing
an Award and Plaque to commemorate 150-th anniversary of Nikola Tesla's birth, the world genius (inventor) of Serbian descent.
The Award, and the Plaque are issued for two-way/heard amateur radio contacts with stations from Serbia and Montenegro during 2006. Extra points are awarded to stations who established/heard contacts with stations holding special
call signs issued during 2006 on the occasion of this event.
This award is available to all amateur radio operators and SWL.
The valid modes for Nikola Tesla award are: CW, SSB, all digital modes.
Contacts established by repeaters (networked or standalone), do not apply for this award.

The Spanish URE Seccions of Montsia, Alt Camp and Conca de Barberα and the
Radio Club Montsia 3AA announce the first Championship of DCC (Catalunya (EA3
Land) Castles Award from 1 January to 30 June 2006.
The Trophy and award is available for everyone who contacts a minimum of 10
operations from referenced castles of Catalunya during this period. No
charge for the award during this special period. All bands and modes
may be used. SWL OK. Send a log extract with all the dates of QSOs or SWLs
reports (including station, time, date, dcc reference, etc
) no later that 30

To promote operating activity on our amateur radio bands. Work 365 radio contacts during a calendar year. SWL OK. All bands and all modes are allowed. The same station may be worked several times. Apply with a simple statement, like: " I have made at least 365 radio contacts during 2006."

SWEDEN 19th European Athletics Championships 2006 Award
Special station SA2006EM will be activated on the 6th (00.00-23.59 UTC) of every month until the full activity starts (January-June). During the event-time, SK6AG will operate 7S6EM and SK6AW will operate
8S6EM. SA2006EM is a joker-station and will be used by both clubs on high-activity days.
Contact these stations plus Swedish stations with prefixes as shown below to
earn points - 50 points are needed for this award.
Points for working EAC special calls:
SA2006EM = 20 points per band
7S6EM = 10 points per band
8S6EM = 10 points per band
Points for working stations in Sweden with prefixes:
SM6/SA6/SK6/SL6/8S6/7S6 = 5 points per band.
SM/SA/SK/SL/8S/7S = 2 points per band.
It is necessary to make contact with at least two different call signs to
qualify for the award.
For Example:
1. You work or hear the special call SA2006EM on 40m, 20m and 17m for a total of
60 points. But you will need to work or hear 7S6EM, SM6XXX, or any other
Swedish contact with a point value. Since you now have the requirement of
at least two different stations, you may apply.
2. You work or hear SA2006EM on 40m, 8S6EM on 20m and 7S6EM on 20 and 17m for a
total of 50 points, you have met all the requirements.
Valid days to make contacts: 6 January, 6 February, 6 March, 6 April, 6
May 6 June land 1 July to 13 August 2006.

SWEDEN FURA 60 Award
The Association of Radio Amateurs in Umeε (FURA), Sweden, celebrates their 60th anniversary in 2006. As part of the festivities FURA issues the FURA 60 Award. The award is free of charge and instituted to enhance outside interest in working SM2 and to raise activity within FURA.
Work FURA stations (calls 7S2AT, SK2T, SK2AT) and/or their members during calendar year 2006. A member list is shown below.
1. A QSO with 7S2AT = 3 points
2. QSOs with SK2T and SK2AT = 2 points.
3. QSOs with FURA members = 1 point.
Points are counted once per band. For hams in SM/EU 15 points are required, while DX stations need 10 points. For example, QSOs with 7S2AT on five different bands is enough for the award.
7S2AT is active on all bands between 23 cm and 160 m, and this call and the other club call will be available in major contests.
