FINLAND

Finland     -- Finnish Amateur Radio League Series --

OH awards are the official certificates of the Finnish Amateur Radio League. All awards are available for amateur radio operators, clubs and SWL's. Work stations situated in Finland with the OH, OH0 and OJ0 prefixes. All bands OK. CW, FONE or/and DIGITAL modes. Contacts after 10 June 1947. For OHA_500, only QSOs worked after 1.2.1967 are valid. Contacts with /AM and /MM stations are not valid. No use of repeaters. Working the same station under two different callsigns or in different call areas counts as different stations. OH3RM and OH3RM/7 counts as two different stations. But note that /M or /P, with the same station such as OH2A and OH2A/P counts only once.

Lists of contacts must be listed by callsign area and in alphabetical order. For example OH1A, OH1B, OH2A etc. If you apply more than one award in the same time one list is sufficient, and you have to clearly mark which award or awards you apply. Contacts worked with different callsigns and from different QTHs are accepted, if applicant is the same. Specify in the application, if you want specific band or mode endorsements.

   OHA

Finnish stations need to work at least nine call areas on two separate bands. The call areas are: OH0, OH1, OH2, OH3, OH4, OH5, OH6, OH7, OH8 and OH9. European stations must work nine call areas. No band restrictions. DX stations need to work five call areas. No band restrictions. These listed OH8 stations count to OH9, if the contacts have been worked before 1 June1954: ND, NJ, NS, NV, NX, OA, OB, OC, OG, OI, ON, OP, OQ, OR, OU, OX, OZ, PA, PB, PD, PF, PL, PM and PQ.

OHA-100

Finnish and European stations must work at least 100 different Finnish stations which must include all 10 call areas worked on at least two separate bands.  DX stations need to work at least 50 different Finnish stations which must include contacts in 5 call areas worked on two separate bands.   The other rules are the same as the rules of the OHA award.

 OHA-300

Finnish stations have to work 300 different Finnish stations such that all the ten call areas are worked on three separate bands. Europeans need to work 150 different stations such that nine call areas are worked. DX stations need to work 75 different stations such that five call areas are worked. The other rules are the same as the rules of the OHA award.

    OHA-500

The Finnish Amateur Radio League (SRAL) published this award in 1967 for the 50th independence day of Finland. Finnish stations need to work 500 different stations. Europeans have to work 250 different stations and DX stations need to work 125 different Finnish stations including contacts in 5 call areas are worked on three separate bands.

    OHA-600

Finnish stations have to work 600 different Finnish stations such that all ten call areas are worked on five separate bands. Europeans need to work 300 different stations such that all ten call areas are worked on two separate bands. DX stations need to work 150 different stations such that five call areas are worked on three separate bands. The other rules are the same as the rules of the OHA award.

    The OHA plaques

OHA-1000, OHA-2500 and OHA-5000 are available for 1000, 2500 and 5000 worked Finnish stations. These are beautiful plaques made by wood. Stickers are available for each new 250 worked stations for each plaque. The OHA plaques are official awards of the Finnish Amateur Radio League (SRAL). All plaques and stickers are available for amateur radio operators, amateur radio clubs and short wave listeners. If you apply more than one plaque or sticker in the same time one list is enough. Tell in the application, if you want the used band or mode is marked on the award.

Plaque fee is 25 euros, 30 USD or 50 IRC. Sticker fee is 5 euros, 8 USD or 10 IRC.

    OHCA - The OH County Award .

Work OH counties after 1 Feb 1974. For the OHCA CW award the contacts worked after 1 Jan 1983.

Available in three classes:

Class 1 : OH stations all counties (488), European stations 226, DX stations 113

Class 2: OH stations 400 counties, European stations 200, DX stations 100. Minimum for OH stations for each area are: OH1 84, OH2 36, OH3 45, OH4 23, OH5 26, OH6 77, OH7 35, OH8 45, OH9 18 and OH0 6.

Class 3: OH stations 320 counties, European stations 160, DX stations 80. Minimum for OH stations for each area are: OH1 71, OH2 29, OH3 36, OH4 18, OH5 21, OH6 64, OH7 28, OH8 35, OH9 12 and OH0 6.

OH stations must work all contacts from the same call area. The list of contacts must be in order of county numbers. Application must be verified by 2 (two) hams or the award manager of your own league. Send applications to the address: SRAL/Award Manager, P.O. Box 44, FIN_00441 Helsinki, Finland. (OHCA CW _ cW contacts worked after 1.1.1983 accepted. Other rules are the same as the rules of the OHCA.)

    The YL awards

The Finnish Amateur Radio League (SRAL) has four different YL awards. The goal is to work as many OH YL stations as possible. If same station is contacted in different call area (OH1LAG and OH1LAG/7) it counts as two different stations. All contacts have to be confirmed by QSL cards. You can get a endorsement for band or mode in the award upon request. The application have to include the call signs, the date of the QSOs, band, mode and the names of the worked YL operators.

    The Lakes of Finland Award  

Work 25 Finnish stations, which are located nearer than 100 meters from a lake or who made the contact from a boat on a lake. Stickers are available for each 25 new lakes. No band or mode restrictions. The contacts via repeaters are not valid. The contacts worked after 1 July 2000 accepted. The application must include callsigns, the dates of the QSOs, bands, modes, the name of the lakes worked and the counties in which the lakes are located. Worked Arctic Circle Award

Work members of the Radio Club of the Arctic Circle. SWL OK. OH's need 15 points; others need 6. Club station OH9AB and OH9SCL is 2 points and other members count for 1 point each. Same station can be worked once per band for additional points. No band or mode limits. Contacts after 1 Jan 1979. Worked Contest Club Finland Award

Contact members during any contest on or after 1 June 1997. Finnish stations must contact 80 members, other EU need 40, all others 20. GCR list must include date, time, station, band, mode, RST sent, RST received, name of the contest.

Joker Award

Collect QSLs which picture hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. A full collection will have all 52 cards represented, and can be from any country, but at least 10 of them must be from Finland. You may even trade needed cards from other amateurs! A Joker (card valid for any missing card/s) may be: any one letter OH-suffixed call such as OH0B or a SWL card from any OH beacon station.

You may also earn one-quarter awards for completing any single suite with limits as follows:

Spade Award - 13 cards - 3 must be OH
Club Award - 13 cards - 2 must be OH
Diamond Award - 13 cards - 2 must be OH
Hearts Award - 13 cards - 3 must be OH

No restrictions, even if you find an OH who makes 13 QSO's each giving a different card value, that's OK. The cards must be sent. Fee is 5€,  $US5 or 10 IRC for each quarter award. Apply to: Joker Radio Club, Koskenmaentie 13, FIN-04300, Tuusula, Finland.

     W-6AH Members Award

Contact members of the OH6AH Club. On HF 10, or on VHF/UHF 5 members. QSO:s after 1.1.1955 are valid for the award. The price of the award is 5 euro.

     W-OH6 AWARD

Available for working stations in the 6th Finnish call area.

HF contacts:
Class D: 100 OH6 stations
Class C: 250 OH6 stations
Class B: 450 OH6 stations
Class A: 650 OH6 stations
Endorsements for single band/mode are available.

VHF Contacts: 15 OH6 stations are needed (Finnish stations need 75),
UHF Contacts: 5 OH6 stations are needed (Finnish stations need 50).

The cost of the award is 10 euro.

Worked Pori Award

Contact 3 stations in the town of Pori after 1 January 1981. Applicant must send copy of logbook (GCR) including your latest QSL card, written to the last Pori station worked.  You must certify in the application that you have sent your card to these stations. Worked Santa Claus Land Award

Work northern Finland prefixes OH9, OF9, OG9 and OI9 stations after 1 Jan 1986. Special station OH9SCL is located at the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. SWL OK. OH statins need 20 points, other European stations need 15 points; all others need 10. Point values: each OH9 etc. station worked counts for 1 point except in December, when they count 3 points. Contact with OH9SCL = 5 points; in December (guess why), it's worth 10 points! No band or mode restrictions, but a station may only be worked one time. Suomen Joutsen Award

The Suomen Joutsen functioned as a school ship in the 1930s for the Finnish Navy. It made 8 ocean trips to 37 countries. Make contacts with the following countries which were visited: EA8, KP4, LU, OY, W, YV, ZS and 4X4 plus contacts with five members of FNARS:
