Special Notes. Many PY awards require contacting combinations of stations in their respective Brazilian states. The following list may help you associate call prefixes and the states they comprise:

Difficulty confirming these rules - 9/05.  This is a National Association, but mail does not seem to be getting through?  Write first. Can a Brasilian station confirm that their organization is active?

LABRE  (Liga de Amadores Brasileiros de Radio Emissao) Series

General requirements for LABRE series: All contacts must be made from the same country, or within a radius of 125 miles. Contacts must be with land stations, and ships, anchored or not and aircraft are not allowed. No date requirements. Three types of certificates are awarded: Mixed phone/cw, phone and all CW. GCR is acceptable

Each award costs $US10 or the equivalent in IRCs. Submissions should be sent to: LABRE Headquarters (Award Manager), CAIXA Postal 004, 70359-970 - Brasilia, DF, Brasil.

Effective 1 Jan 87 onwards, WAO, WAB and WAS also available for SSTV, RTTY, VHF and satellite with band endorsements. DBDX is available for RTTY, SSTV and band endorsements. (CHG 96)

Contact Brazilian stations in all 26 states and the Capital City - Brasilia (PT2).

Worked All Oceans (WAO)

Confirm contacts in all 9 Brasilian Geographic Regions: (1)PY1 or PP1, (2)PY2, PP2, PQ2 or PT2), (3) PY3, (4) PY4, (5) PY5 or PP5, (6) PY6 or PP6, (7) PY7, PP7, PR7, PS7, or PT7, (8) PY8, PP8, PQ8, PR8, PS8, PT8, PU8, PV8, PW8, (9) PY9, PT9 and PY0 plus 21 countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean.

DBDX Award

Confirm contacts with a minimum of 20 different countries from the ARRL official DXCC list. One must be PY. Endorsement stickers allowed for each additional 10. All contacts must be on 160, 80 and 40 meters only.


BP Award

The B-P (Baden-Powell) Award is available to stations engaged in the World Scout or Girl Guiding Movements, as follows. Contact 10 stations worldwide  whose QSL card certifies by any acknowledged scouting symbol that the station is involved with radio scouting are valid. For every additional 10 stations is an endorsement sticker is available. Honor Roll: by submitting 100 contacts with radio scouting stations, among which at least 20 are required to be a Boy Scouts or Girl Guides association’s station or the official station of a large scouting event. Contacts are eligible in the bands of 160 through 2 meters in any mode. Cross-mode and cross-band contacts are void for this award. SWL OK.

Cards are not required. Send a GCR list with endorsement from a radio scout or guiding entity or from two “A” class radio amateurs to whom the QSL cards are presented. In case none of these is possible, send the station’s license and the QSL photocopy attached to the log. For contacts before July 31, 2000, enclose to the log sheet, photocopy of the QSO certifying QSL card. Award cost $US6 or 4 IRC’s and the endorsement or Honor Roll US$ 1 or 1 IRC. Brazilian Islands Award

Available for all stations outside of Brazil.  Confirm contacts with at least 20 different islands of Brazil after 1 January 1980. An official application/GCR must be used (send SAE and 2 IRCs to sponsor or SASE to K1BV). Each active island has a DIB (Diploma Island Brazil) number which must be used on the application. SWL OK. All bands and modes OK. No crossband/mode. All contacts must be from the same country. Honor Level Trophy for working 65 islands - fee is $US30 or 35 IRC. QRP endorsement is free of charge. For contacts made before 31 Dec 1993, it is necessary to send photocopy of the QSLs.  Electronic QSLs are accepted if you specify the URL of the site where this contact is online. .Fee for basic award is $US10 or 14 IRCs. Brazilian Lighthouses Award

Contact stations or receive SWL cards operating from Brazilian Lighthouses since 27 Oct 1992. All bands 160 to 6 meters, all modes, no cross band contacts. All contacts must be made from the same country. May be worked on Phone, CW or mixed modes. Basic award is for contacting 10 activated Brazilian lighthouses. GCR list must contain usual data plus their State sigla/number per the official lighthouses list which is available from the sponsor or K1BV for SASE. Award fee is $US8 or 10 IRCs. Endorsements for 20, 30, 40 and 50 lighthouses at a fee of $US2 or 3 IRCs. Special plaque available for working 55 lighthouses. QRP endorsement free of charge. Fee for the plaque is $US35 or 35 IRCs. Brazilian YL Award

Contact 10 PY-YL stations from your same QTH since 1 July 1975.  If the contacts are made on the BRYLA Net and Net bands (40 and 80 meters), then no cards are needed for the award.  Send a GCR list, a copy of your QSL card and fee of 8€ or 10 IRCs to: BRYLA, c/o PT2TF Teresa Cardoso, Shin AQL 08 Conj 07 Casa 09, Lago Norte, 71520-275, Brasilia, DF, Brazil.

Work the following prefixes: PP6, PY6, PP7, PR7, PS7, PT7, PY7, PR8, PS8 (one of each). PT7 must be a CECW member. Contacts after 3 September 1987. CECW Award

(Rewrite 3/2005) Work 10 different PT7 stations (at least 5 must be CECW members).  PT7CCW = 5 stations.  There are 3 endorsements for each 30 contacts with the 7th region (at least 1 member).  For DX stations, work 5 different PT7 stations (at least 3 must be CECW members even if the amateur prefix is not PT7) or QSO with PT7CCW + 2 PT7 stations.  Contacts after 1 Sep 1983.  All bands, but CW mode only.

Work 15 different states or territories as shown below including Fernando de Noronha and Trindade Islands. Only those who have received the CWSP Award may apply. You must notify this group of the CWSP award number when applying. Contacts after 15 October 1976. Endorsements: (14) one for each new Brazilian state or territory.

For basic award, work 3 different Brazilian YL's using the cw mode after 1 May 1984. Endorsement only available for each 3 different YL's in any other country. .

General Requirements: GCR accepted.  SWL OK.  Apply to GPCW, PO Box 556, Santos, SP 11010 970, Brazil.

Brazil Coast Award (BCA)

Awarded for CW contacts with 8 different call areas along the Brazilian coast.  Contacts since 30 Sep 1978 on any HF bands with minimum report of 338.  Call areas include: PP1 PP5  PP6  PP7  PQ8  PR7  PS8  PT7  PY1  PY2  PY3  PY5  PY6  PY7  PY8  PY0F  PY0S  PY0T. The prefixes PU and ZY are valid if they belong to stations on the Brazilian coast.  Fee is 10 IRCs. 

GPCW Award

Work 3 members (PYs need 5) on CW only after 5 Nov 1973.  Minimum report of 338.  (QRP endorsement is signed statement is provided saying not over 10 watts were used for all contacts. 

SWL-GPCW Award

SWLs submit proof of having received cards from 3 GPCW members after 1 July 1976.  Fee is 5 IRCs.

Traveler CW Award

Contact varying numbers of countries in 6 continents as follows:

    Class 2
    15 countries in 6 continents as follows: SA = 2 countries (Brazil is mandatory), NA = 2, EU = 7, AS = 2, AF = 1, OC = 1.  Note; on continents where more than one country is to be worked, the countries must be worked sequentially. QSOs with other continents in between the same time period are NOT valid for the award.

    As above, but with double the number of countries for each continent, for a total of 30 countries.

All HF bands may be used.  Contacts since 21 Jan 1987.  Fee is 10 IRCs. 

Worked International Port Award

Awarded for CW contacts with 10 cities which are considered to be an international sea-port in a minimum of 3 continents.  Only 2 of the ports may be from the applicant's home country.  Contacts since 1 Jan 1983.  CW contacts only with a minimum report of 338.  Endorsements: copper label for an addditional 5 cities; silver label for an additional 15 cities; and a gold label for an additional 30 cities.  Fee is 10 IRCs (fee for endorsements is 3 IRCs for each label.)
